It's going to be a close finish!
A mere four points separate the top 5 teams in the standings after the conclusion of Week 18.

Hang Loose def. Pisikoa 4-0
Pisikoa's chances of winning the second round took a major hit on Sunday night. The loss dropped them three spots in the standings, from 2nd to 5th, with only two weeks remaining in the round.

Hyphy def. Aeto 3-1
Hyphy kept their hopes alive with a gritty 3-1 win over Aeto. The victory elevated them into 3rd place, while Aeto dropped to 4th.

Okole Maluna def. Ava Bowl 3-1

Weekly Recap - Week 17

There were 4 sweeps on Sunday.
First of all, on behalf of the entire league, we would like to thank Brandie and Karen for providing the delicious musubi and egg rolls in honor of MLK Day.

There were a lot of sweeps during Week 17, four to be exact and a 3-1 result.

Aeto had a good team night, amassing 1935 handicap pins to sweep Threesome, even with Chris in the lineup.

Pisikoa swept Ava Bowl on the back of Ernest's 682 series to keep a hold of second place.

Okole Maluna swept Dolphin, who was without Hana for another week. Okole Maluna maintains a hold of second place with 3 weeks remaining in the second round.

Popole Fua remained in first place for another week by virtue of their sweep of the Vacant team.

Hyphy emerged 3-1 victors over Hang Loose in a close encounter on lanes 21 & 22.

With three weeks remaining in the 2nd round, the top 5 teams are separated by a mere 2 points. The 2nd round is still up for grabs.

Can Aeto finish strong and take the second round? Will Okole Maluna be the next team to book a berth in the end of season roll off? Can Pisikoa run the table and claim second round glory? Will Hyphy be the team that finishes on top? Can Popole Fua hang on to the top spot?

Who do you think will take the second round?

Weekly Recap - Week 16

There's a logjam for 2nd place
First of all, on behalf of the FSBL we'd like to thank Matt Iuli for providing champagne for the entire league to kick off the new year.

Okole Maluna climbed into a tie for 2nd place with their 2-2 draw with the Vacant team. The Vacant team remains tough to beat, even in the new year.

Matt Iuli put on a magnificent display of bowling, putting together the FSBL's maiden 700 series of the 2011-2012 season, a 737 scratch series (257, 221, 259). Despite Matt's great series, Popole Fua managed to withstand the storm and win 4-0 over Hang Loose, thanks to Maddy's breakout series, a 527 (175.7 ppg) which was 173 pins over his average.

League leaders, Hyphy, put up a good fight but eventually fell to Pisikoa, losing 1-3. The result puts both teams into a tie for 2nd place.

Ava Bowl out maneuvered league leaders, Aeto, to the tune of 3-1. Aeto falls into a 4-way tie for 2nd place while Ava Bowl remains tied for 8th place.

In the final match of the week, both teams were missing a player. Chris of Threesome was MIA while Hana of Dolphin was also missing in action. Dolphin took 3 points but remained in 8th place while Threesome gained a point and climbed a spot in the standings to claim 6th place.

NEXT WEEK:  Threesome Vs. Aeto, Pisikoa Vs.Ava Bowl, Okole Maluna Vs.Dolphin, Hyphy Vs. Hang Loose, Popole Fua Vs. Vacant.

Happy New Year

Talofa all,

I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable festive season. Our league starts up again this Sunday (1/8) and it will be a Lavalava Day. Let's try to have 100% participation to start the new year the right way!

Also, if you need extra incentive to show up this Sunday, our generous benefactor, Matt Iuli, will be providing champagne for all. Choohoo!

If you're wondering who you will be playing this weekend (Week 16):

  1. Okole Maluna vs Vacant
  2. Popole Fua vs Hang Loose
  3. Pisikoa vs Hyphy
  4. Ava Bowl vs Aeto
  5. Threesome vs Dolphin
One last thing, if you've been to our website lately, you may have noticed an annoying popup that appears on every page. Unfortunately this is a feature of the free web host that we use. I'm currently working on moving our website to a popup-free site and will let you know the new address (URL) in the near future.

Thanks and see you this weekend!

~Matt M
